Awkward Things for Missionaries (Jan. 20)
Well, I'm going to start this one off with another story. As it turns out i'm really good at making things really awkward for some reason. However one time it wasn't really my fault. So Elder Andersen and I went tracting the other day at an apartment complex. We only had an hour though so near the end of the hour we still had alot of doors left to knock. We decided to each knock a door by ourselves since the doors are right next to each other.I knock on a door and i'm just about to leave when it opens. It was a girl and all she had on was a towel. I was in shock basically. So i started to tell her what we do already planning on saying is there a time when we could come back and teach. Before I could though she said, "I can't let you in right now this is all i have on, I thought you were my sister." by this time Elder Andersen had come back. So i asked her if there was a time that we could come back. She said in an hour, which would have been nice but we had other appointments and we were going to be back the next day around 12 o'clock. So i asked her if we could come back tomorrow she said yes and i said around noon o'clock? I was so embarrassed. It was so weird and awkward. She was a pretty girl too so that didn't help at all. Oh well though. We went back and she wasn't there.
Things are going great here though! I don't remember if I told you guys in my last letter but Alabama did win the Championship game! WOOHOO!!! We also were able to watch it! It was so much fun. We went over to an investigators house who can't get baptized because her husband is hard core Catholic. He is getting a lot better with the missionaries though. We have been able to go in their house which wasn't allowed with previous missionaries and he told us to come back whenever we want to. They have a 12 year old son to who has never like the missionaries and he loves us. I showed him my magic tricks and he loved them. So its slowly getting better.
WE also are working with a beyond golden investigator. She knows that Joseph Smith is a prophet has been paying tithing and reads and knows the church is true. She came from a member family that we challenged to find 3 families to share the gospel with and she was one of the 3. She has a date for the 30th and we are going to be able to meet her daughter on saturday and we are hoping that she will be the same way. From the sound of things she will be. They are way spiritual which is crazy cuz they weren't raised with any religion. Amy (the Mom) or Ashleigh (ashley the daughter) We are way excited for them!
Then there is our little mexican family that we are working with. The 2 kids Kenya and sandra are going to get baptized on saturday and the mom soon after that. We found out that Francisco ( the dad) and Rosio (the mom of the daughters) aren't married so we have to get them married first then she will be baptized! I love it. They have feed us twice and it is dang good. We had real enchiladas and some fish tacos. They were delicious.
I forgot the information again on our relatives that i met up here but i'll send it eventually. I really like Decatur. We are also reactivating a 20 year old from Utah who is really taking a rough route right now. He came to church though and said that he was going to come back. His co worker is getting interested to. We go and teach him at his work and she listens in. Its really good stuff.
I loved all the pictures i got from everyone showing off my new nephew. Thanks a bunch. I can't wait to meet him. He is going to be so big. I can't wait!. I got to go though. thanks for all the e-mails. and the prayers. Love ya'll Love Elder Haws

Decatur
Well as you all know i am now in Decatur Alabama. I love it! There is just something about being in a ward that i love. Its so great. The ward has about 100-150 Active members. Our ward mission leader is way excited to do work. He is 26 and is a convert and wasn't able to serve a mission so he is just way excited for this because its like being on a mission.
We are teaching alot of families. There is one that would make dad really happy. Their names are Francisco(a member father) Rosio(a non member mother) Kenya and Sandra( non member daughters) Yes they are Hispanic and Rosio doesn't speak any english. The rest of them do though. We have a baptism date set for saturday with them. Its way exciting. they are such a fun family.
Next is a lady named Amy Davis. She is in her 40's and has a 17 year old daughter. She is a Golden member refferal. She has been prompted by the spirit as a mother to do things that have saved her daughters life. She is looking for the true gospel. She is just golden golden golden. We are going to set a date with her on friday. its so neat the way the lord works on people their whole lives to get them ready for the gospel. I Love It!!!!!!!!!!!
Then we have a few more part member families that we are working with. So i got here on Thursday and on Friday we went and saw a less active part member family. The dad is 26 and served a mission in England. Way cool guy just is lazy and won't come and he knows it. Anyway we are there and he offers us some egg nog. so we take a glass and it is way good. ( it was home made) we are drinking it and Elder Andersen asks him what was in it because it was way good. So he tells us and then he says and some whiskey. We just immediatly look at each other then at our glass. We start like smelling it and stuff and we can totally smell it in there. So i'm like okay well i'm not drinking any more. My companion though has Two more glasses!!! Then he is a little tipsy because we fing out that it is like 1/3 percent whiskey. Not just any whiskey though its a special Irish Whiskey. I was freaking out in my mind. Thinking what i'm i going to tell President if he gets a dui on his mission. They were both tipsy. like they both had the giggles and the Dad was tripping over stuff. he fell off his chair once. Then as we are driving away to top off the whole experience Elder Andersen tells me it was just a joke. I was so mad but it was way funny. It was a good one.
Elder Andersen is a cool guy. He played college volleyball at UNLV. He can sing and can play the piano. We have tons of fun together. Most importantly though he is a great teacher. I have already in the week that i've been here learned all the scriptures to use for the "first lesson". He is a really good missionary.
Baurer isn't my Zone Leader. He is the new Zone Leader for the Tuskegee area but since i moved out of that Zone he isn't mine.He would have been just like when i left Hamilton he went to Hamilton and when i left The Montgomery zone he went there. We are just barely missing each other. Its kind of funny. I was able to see haim during transfers though.
My new address is 1117 Magnolia st SW Decatur Alabama 35601.
Guess what else! I ran into another one of our cousins here on sunday. Its seems like there is always some one to check up on me. haha She is related to the Ashcrofts and the Farrs. Her grand mother or great grandma was a ashcroft that married a Farr, or something like that. She definatley looks like a Ashcroft. I have all the names of here relatives and things like that i just forgot them at the house so i'll tell you next week. Crazy isn't it.
HOORAY for my new nephew! congrats TO Kim and Tyson. Thats so exciting. I'd love a picture as soon as you have time no rush though. I'm so excited. yay!!!
I hope everything went well with the move for buddy and Sara. Hope you guys are settling in nicely. Good luck on the new style of life.

Transfers (Jan 6)
Well i'll get straight to the point. We got our Transfer calls on tuesday and i'm on my way out. I'm now heading up north. I'm going to Decatur, Alabama which is by Huntsville. So its going to be more cold now. Oh well though. There is going to be a snow storm going through Alabama on thursday so maybe i'll get to see some! That would be exciting. Oh! so did you guys know that no matter what insurance won't cover you if you get in an accident in the snow? (here in Alabama that is) So if we get in an accident and its snowing then the peoples insurace won't cover them so we are basically stuck to our apartment if its snowing. Elder Myrvang is staying here and is getting Elder Davis as a companion. He came out a transfer after me.
We have had a pretty good week so far. We were able to see quite a few people that we haven't seen for awhile and a lot of them said that they would go to church since they never went while i was here. So me leaving actually turned into a good thing. They should be able to have a couple of baptisms next transfer!
My new companion is Elder Anderson. He is from Las Vegas and has been out for a year more than me. So we will both get to burn something next month. So that should be exciting.
Dad I hope your recovering well still. I'll keep you in my prayers. I'm sure you'll be excited once you can see the difference. I'm sure mom will be to. How is your exercising coming along anyway? How much have you lost to date?
Buddy good luck on your move. Hope everything goes smooth and that you will have a good time over in Cali. send some good pictures of the beach Okie dokie?
Well thats about it for now. Hope to hear from yall next week. Love yall.
Love Elder Haws.

Happy New Year (Dec 30)
Well, Happy New Year everybody. It was way good to hear from everyone on christmas. I thoroughly enjoyed it. That whole day was wonderful. We ended up being fed twice that day lunch and dinner. Let me tell you these black southerns know how to cook their food. I have had some BOMB chicken and dressing, macaroni, turkey, Ham, chicken, Beans, and believe it or not potatoe salad. It was a good day though. Thanks for talkin with me.
This week seems to have flown by! Its crazy! We have transfers in just 1 week from tommorrow so on the 7th of January. I'll let you know what happens in my next letter. I had a dream last night though that Dallin Told me that President Tate had already called and told him that Elder Myrvang was going to Huntsville and that i was staying to to train someone. So who knows what will be happening.
We found this really cool couple last night. we have been trying to meet with them for awhile now. Ever since my first transfer and we finally were able to talk with them and they had a whole ton or questions that they want answers to that no one can answer except us! Its so awesome how that works. She is really cautious though cuz her mom is way against it. Her mom threw a book of Mormon away one time but i think its all going to be ok. It was really fun though. They have a great sense of Humor. Kind of like you dad. So you know we get along really well. We are going to be going back to see them on saturday so i'll keep you updated!
Thats about it as far as that goes though. Thanks for all the gifts i got. I'm putting them all to good use well.... except for the candy. Thats just making me fat but thats ok. i got to have my candy. I lvoe you guys though. I'll talk to you next week.
